Braids On Call

Braids on Call was born from the need to fulfill our mission to “Break the cycle of poverty one family at a time”. For your years I have noticed how many women were rejected at the hair salon I used to go to, because they wanted braids, but the owner of the salon kept on saying “sorry we are full to day” “ sorry we are all booked this week”. This was happening every single time I was sitting getting my hair done. Then my curiosity got the better of me to find out if this was unique to this hair salon or it’s happening everywhere.

We launched a survey of 75 hair salons to find out what’s going on with the braiding business. In a meantime, the Black hair is a $30 billion industry while the poverty level in our community keeps getting deeper. Black women of all origins grow up braiding their hairs. They learn to braid their hairs before they even know about the existence of perm, coloring…etc. Styling the hair is braiding the hair. We were then left with only one alternative: why not figure out a way to help Black women make money and change their bottom line with this natural skill?

So here we are.
